Family Enrichment Center announces a new program called Respite Childcare, funded by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services. Respite is intended for families who find themselves with a temporary need for childcare or in need of a temporary break from caring for a child with special needs.
Families who qualify for the service include those, those seeking work, families involved with the Department for Community Based Services, those using the services of the Salvation Army, parents with children who have special needs or families working with other local agencies such as BRASS, Potter Christian Home, Hope Harbor and the Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center. Foster parents are also encouraged to use this service.
Space is now available at our new facility at 441 Church Street and at our Wee Care Nursery at 869 Broadway for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. The free service is offered on a limited basis, with a maximum use of 30 days per year. However, full time childcare is also offered by Wee Care Nursery and funded by United Way of Southern Kentucky. We plan to see families transition from drop-in childcare to our full time service. The goal of the program is to eliminate stress in the family that can be caused by the high cost of childcare and to enable the family to attend school, work or rise above of a family crisis that might lead to child abuse or neglect.
Call (270)781-6714 to determine if you qualify and make arrangements for care.
